Practicality

A person can have a lot of knowledge, but the knowledge becomes insignificant when it is only stored within the mind and/or heart.

For it is only by action, will the knowledge have meanings and have lasting impacts on the person him/herself and others.

As an example, I can memorize all the psychological theories, nutritional facts, brilliant ideas I picked up from books but, it comes down to nothing if I have no intention or any idea of how to apply them in my reality.

So often these days, people talk a lot about theories, ideas and facts without giving any ideas of how these ideas could be practical in the real life.

Consequently, the mind zeroed out when asked to come up with realistic solutions to deal with real-life problems/situations.

Hence, the question of the self being either realistic or idealistic.

I'd say I'm the latter.

source
Alhamdulillah...from the talks I've listened to these past few days (ISNA-ISK), I have come to realization that I, if not all, should have the ability to transform the idea that I have in my mind to improve myself and my community in my reality (namely, columbus and malaysia) in hopes that the knowledge would not go wasted and that it would make changes in life be it small or big ones.

=> 'Ilm + 'Amal = Increased P and PC.

So yeah...I must admit that I am still in the process of understanding and learning how to be practical right now. After all, efforts to change should begin not with others but with oneself.

InshaAllah, may Allah bless me with His guidance along the way.

May Allah make it easy for all of us who are struggling with whatever difficulties we have in life too.

Ameen ya Rabb.

Thought Process

I want to write something witty or funny

But now I find myself without any.

*********************************************

To see the world with your magnificent Light

Is what I've been trying with all my might.

*********************************************

Having companions of Love by my side

I beg of You to keep us in guide.

*********************************************

Ohhhoii~~~ :P

Oh!

Oh Allah!

Nasihat dari Kau datang bila manusia sangat sangat sangat perlukannya.

Ohhhh memang hanya Kau saja yang boleh offer the best solution at the right time.

Verily, You are the Most Perfect of all.

This world is like a drum; people marvel at its sound and crowd. In fact, the drum is hollow, has no skin, and no real interest. Happy is the man who has found the Perfume-Maker's House and whose heart has grown cold to the rat-a-tat of the drum of this world.

Oh Dunia!

Sungguh kau hanyalah tempat persinggahan untuk manusia.

Yang abadi adalah di akhirat kelak.

...this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter - that is the home of [permanent] settlement. (Al-Ghafir 40:39)

Hah, apa lagi yang nak dikata?

Perjuangan

InshaAllah.

Good luck everyone for the finals!

p/s: I am going to terribly miss you.

Nampak tak?

If in thirst you drink water from a cup, you see God in it. Those who are not in love with God will see only their own faces in it.
(Jalal ad-Din Rumi)

Ohhh indahnya persahabatan ini!

Seperti mahu melayang-layang gembira macam dalam kartun~~~

Ya, ini baru permulaan cerita.

Kena tunggu sampai habis dahulu, baru boleh banyak bercerita.

Tapi, apa yg boleh di'summarize'kan, today was the best.

More to come, ان شاء الله .

Transformers Invasion!

1) Malam raya?

Takbir di malam Raya

                                          Sebahagian makanan yg disajikan :D

                                 Jeopardyy (baca: tradisi event OSU)

2) Pagi Raya

                                     Solat Raya di International Plaza

Yaaa, itulah dia suasana beraya di perantauan. Begitu _______(isi ikut interpretasi) sekali!

Apa yg penting, nak share sedikit nota yg di'save' dlm otak:

#1- Bilamana kita nak korbankan sesuatu, berilah korban yg terbaik. Especially, kalau berkorban kerana Allah. #LikeABoss

(kisah Nabi Ibrahim & Nabi Ismail a.s.) #LikeABoss

(Kredit: Pemberi tazkirah semalam).

InshaAllah, moga kita semua dapatlah sedikit sebanyak pengajaran disebalik peristiwa ni.

Harapnya, taklah 'masuk telinga kiri, keluar telinga kanan' aja.

Apa-apapun, akhir kata, selamat beraya dengan 'korban' masing-masing ya! Moga 'korban' diterima Allah :)

Apa yang penting??

Ya, niat itu penting.

Dan niat itu datangnya dari hati.

Jadi apa yg paling penting sekarang ini?

Hati.

If the first inward thought is not warded off, it will generate a desire. The desire will generate a wish, the wish will generate an intention, the intention will generate an action, and the action will result in ruin, and divine wrath. So evil must be cut off at its root, which is when it is simply a thought that crosses the mind.

Imam Al-Ghazali

“The heart will rest and feel relief if it is settled with Allah and it will worry and be anxious if it is settled with people.” Ibn Qayyim Al Jawziyyah

So Sweeet :)

From A'ishah r.a;

“Once, when I saw the Prophet in a good mood, I said to him:
“O Messenger of Allah! Supplicate to Allah for me!”

So, he said:
“O Allah! Forgive A’ishah her past and future sins, what she has hidden, as well as what she has made apparent.”

So, I began smiling, to the point that my head fell into the lap of the Messenger of Allah sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam out of joy.

The Messenger of Allah said to me: “Does my supplication make you happy?”

I replied: “And how can your supplication not make me happy?”

He then said:
“By Allah, it is the supplication that I make for my Ummah in every prayer.”

[Reported in 'Sahih Mawarid adh-Dhaman' (1875), and it is in 'as-Silsilah as-Sahihah' (2254)]

So how much do we remember him then?

Cooking Show

Passion helps to guarantee how long you might be onto something.

And it definitely helps you to stay alive too.

Yes, I've been watching Masterchef again. :D

Entah kenapa, but it really soothes my mind whenever I am involved with food-related stuffs.

Hence, it's a no wonder la why I'm becoming a dietitian kan? :P

why don't they cook tomyammm in the show??

Anyways, something I observe from the show, it really is important for a person to have great, good and sound character if he or she were to achieve success.

Nak buat apa, nak jadi apa, kena lah berjiwa & berakhlak baik.

But such as comes to Him as Believers who have worked righteous deeds--for them are ranks exalted―Gardens of Eternity, beneath which flow rivers: they will dwell therein for aye: such is the reward of those who purify themselves (from evil). (Surah Taha 20:75-76)

May Allah guide us all to be such of characters...ameen.

p/s: this post serves as reminder for my present and future self.

Likeeee

"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing." – Adidas

Yes, I need to challenge myself to go further.

Jangan asyik nak duduk dalam 'comfort zone' saja.

Mungkin kita tak sedar, tapi sebenarnya bila kita diberi peluang untuk "level up", ALLAH sebenarnya tengah dalam proses membentuk diri kita untuk masa hadapan nanti.

Well, I believe so. :)

So yeah....Impossible is nothing.

Especially when I have the Greatest help on my side.

But, I won't forget to make du'a to Allah so that He can give the best of help for the problems that I am and will be encountering later.

Don’t ever underestimate du’a. What is the value of du’a? That you are transferring a situation from your power and ability to the power and ability of Allah. You are moving obstacles from yourself to the One who has no obstacles…

Told ya... :P

Mari Mengaji!

Have you ever felt the need to take as much classes as you can?

Or to read as many books as you can?

Yes, I do!

Being the nerd like I've always been, I can't help but think about these kinds of questions since i came here.

Ya Allah, kalau nak kira berapa banyak course yg OSU offer, memang xterkira punya.

Kadang-kadang sampai terasa nak extend studies just to take those classes that I always want to. Can aa?

As for the books' case, since the books here are sold at really low prices, who can't afford not to fall into temptations to buy books here?!! Sungguh tidak boleh xbeli buku di sini.

Kadang-kadang terfikir, rasa overwhelming jugak sebab nak cuba belajaq banyakbanyakbanyakbanyak.

Kalau buleh, nak fills this head of mine with knowledge given from God.

I sound greedy, don't I? =__=

But then these questions lead me to God.

Try to relate what you learn with God, for that's what makes it more meaningful in your quest of finding knowledge.

(:

Ma'as-salaama ya shabaab!

* God, I'm in love with ___________!! :D

Surgery

Ok, harini saya nak cerita sikit pasal pembedahan.

This is no easy surgery, but I think it's worth to talk about since it's a unique one. ;)

I call it book surgery. Yaaa, dalam bahasa Melayu, kita kata bedah buku.

kalau dapat rak buku macam ni best gak! :D

Straight to the point, the book in question today is Maza Ya'ni by Fathi Yakan. A highly recommended book for every Muslim in this world.

Kalau rasa belum cukup kefahaman pasal Islam (like me!), sila lah baca!

Mantapkan akidah sbg Muslim & faham kenapa kena berdakwah secara berjemaah dalam dunia ni haa.

Tak tebal pon bukunya. Kalau nak lagi nipis, cari yg English pdf kat net...hehe. :P

Okthankyoutoallmyusrahmates!

Uhibbukana fillah (:

May Allah grant all of us with His beneficial knowledge in this world.

Ameen.

Yes

From now on, I'll try my best to update this blog every week, if not everyday. ;P

So here, good stuff I stumbled across the web universe.

“Letting one’s heart wander in the garden of the Quran, seeking consolation in it from every calamity, seeking healing in it from all diseases of the heart, so that it will bring comfort to his grief and healing for his worries and distress.”
Ibn al-Qayyim

Dah kena tukar level jadi Super Saiya sikit kot lepas ni.

No more main-main banyak-banyak. (Bukan takbuleh main-main langsung).

Bukan tau nak mati bila kan. Kena cari extra pahala sket utk Akhirat nanti.

Random #1: Oyeah, I'm getting all excited with my classes for this quarter. Dpt belajaq pre-pregnancy nutrition, arabic hip hop and psycho stuffs. Kenapa class waktu Autumn quarter selalu best best? *soalan xberguna..haha*

Random #2: I want to grow old watching the below video with my beloveds. (:

Just Because

Sometimes it's so easy to go wrong in this world.

Living in the world with so many choices makes you think twice(or maybe more than that) before making any decision.

I am growing old, I know that.

And somehow, day by day, decision to be made gets harder and harder.

Things ain't getting easy as you grow older.

But the main question here, is how you view your dilemmas in life.

Allah, help me.

‎"My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of]Your righteous servants." (27:19)

Solution: Get back to Allah. Consult Him anytime, anywhere 24/7!

P/S: nak tulis banyakkkk lagi kalau buleh!!!!

Thoughts

Resist the overpowering desires for the worldly stuffs,
For you know what waits for you in the Hereafter,
Is much greater than that is imaginable for you.

Subhanallah wa Alhamdulillah....
The road towards the Light is shining nothing like before.

Options, choices, decisions...
Make the best of them, for they will affect your life in Hereafter.

Investment...
Toiling your hard work in this dunya to succeed both in this world and the Hereafter.

To stand before your Lord on the Judgment Day...
What deeds will you present in front of Allah? If you were to die today, how will you fare in front of Him?

Eternal life...
Will it be in Jannah or in Jahannam?

So we always say that we need to think and plan ahead of time, namely the future.

Now, ain't these questions worth to be thinking of where we, as Muslims, willl end up later after this Earth faces its destruction?

Think, think and think. Don't ever stop thinking especially when it comes to our death.

"Has not the time come for the believers to surrender their hearts to Allah’s remembrance and for this truth that has come down?

And do not be like those who were earlier given the Book(s) and when a long term passed over them, their hearts became hardened; and many of them are sinners." (Al-Hadid 57: 16)

A Lot

has happened these past few weeks.

"If you would count up the favors of Allah, never would you be able to number them: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Al-Nahl: 18)

Thank you O' Allah for all your blessings.

....and he said: "O my Lord! so order me that I may be grateful for Thy favours which Thou hast bestowed on me and on my parents and that I may work the righteousness that will please Thee: and admit me by Thy Grace, to the ranks of Thy righteous Servants." (Al-Naml:19)

...he says "O my Lord! Grant me that I may be grateful for Thy favour which Thou hast bestowed upon me, and upon both my parents, and that I may work righteousness such as Thou mayest approve; and be gracious to me in my issue. Truly have I turned to Thee and truly do I bow (to Thee) in Islam." (Al-Ahqaf: 15)

p/s: Make du'a for my friends and I as we are now battling with the ferocious final exams for this quarter. (:

Yet Again

The purpose of life is of utmost importance.

Hence, the need to constantly refresh my niyyah (intention).

Alhamdulillah, thank you Allah for the constant reminder.

Checkpoint (III)

Pardon me, for I'm going to rant about the awesomeness of psychological stuff again this time.

And so, I was introduced to the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM) by the lecturer as part of the syllabus needed to be covered for my Communication class.

Basically,ELM explains how persuasive influence works with people of high and low cognitive processes using two different routes, namely central and peripheral routes, to bring about attitude change in one self.

Now, the thing with this model is that, it keeps reminding me of how it relates with our roles as servants of Allah.

Aha! Now you might ask how does that even make sense, right?

You know....in the Quran, Allah always mentions of how we're supposed to reflect every single creations of His because that will ultimately lead us to further understand the purpose of them being in this world.

Basically, the message there is to think, think and think, right? Never ever stop thinking...right?

Okay, now I'm getting to the point where this model relates with Allah's words in the Qur'an.

When we keep our mental processes going on and on and on, something is bound to happen to us...jengjengjeng.

Guess what? That attitude of yours towards Allah and His creations gonna change.

Yep, you saw it right. Change of attitudes...!

I mean, on the basis of ELM, the central route states that when a person clearly and deeply think of a message given to him, and finally that message gets through him as to how it works and why it should make sense to him, he will have a strong POSITIVE attitude change in himself on the condition he internalizes the message within himself.

Not a lousy, negative, and temporary attitude change. But a real positive, strong, and long lasting ones!

WOW! Just wow!

Subhanallah! Look at how Allah want to shape us to a fully utilized human being by asking us to use this wonderful and magnificent aqal of ours.

Allah, I am so amazed!!

Just think of this. How many times have you tried thinking the reasons behind Allah's orders and creations?

And with that question in mind, how many times have your understanding towards the matters change?

And finally, how does that change in perception or new understanding cause your attitude to change?

Keep the answers to yourself. Should you find your answers satisfying, do not forget to praise Allah and keep thanking Him for it.

(:

If I were to explain this model in Islamic perspective, it should go like this;

Persuasive message (Message from Qur'an) --> Motivated to Process (Yes) --> Able to Process (Yes) --> Type of Cognitive Processing (Favorable Case) --> Strong Positive Attitude Change (Success!!)

Okay, I think I'm done with the rant. Thanks for making it this far!

If you've read up to this point, that shows that you're one of the people who have high mental effort and is capable of processing Allah's words to bring about strong POSITIVE attitude change in yourself.

p/s: If you are ever interested with ELM, do ask me how the peripheral route works too because that will make the whole idea of taking the central route to process messages more interesting! Haha... ;)
